2011 Year in Review

One song picked, know the other two artists just need to choose the song.
Thursday December 29th, does that work for everyone?

  1. The 29th works for me... 9 artists picked, 0 songs... wah wah.

  2. I'll host and come up with a delightful holiday menu, ahem, cocktail.
Who's adding Adele? Who's bringing Beyonce? Who's feeling Florence?
It's going to be a girl vs. girl situation, right?

    this is marcy

  3. Let us discuss artist/song duplication... Do we try to avoid and talk amongst ourselves about who is picking who? Or, do we roll the dice, stay true to our favorites and pick the songs that we loved.

  4. 29th works for me.

I like the dice roll, but pretty much every meeting I don't choose something because I think someone else will choose it. I am also pretty much always wrong. I'm going to keep doing it, though. It's my way.

  5. I'd be honored to duplicate with any of my fellow MC'ers.
I'm thinking Pat will be a long shot in the dupe pool.
My money is on a Jim/Debbie dupe since they duped albums last year.

  6. There was an album out there floating around that seemed interesting, but I got distracted and didn't go out of my way to listen to it. I'd heard one song and thought it was just okay.
I just the other day heard the whole album. It is now my new favorite.
My songs of the year just got a new entry.
Also I accidentally saw Kanye and Jay-Z last night. The live version of Runaway (which I was excited to see) was no-good. Everyone else in the Tacoma Dome seemed pretty jazzed, though.

  7. I'm trying to wait until the 29th to find out how you accidentally saw Kanye and Jay-Z at the Tacoma Dome.
    It isn't easy.

  8. You know how when you walk into a room, in this case the Tacoma Dome, and then you stand in the middle of the room thinking, "Why did I come in here?"
But then you're there so you might as well look in the same direction as everyone else, and, "Hey. Isn't that Kanye West and Jay-Z?"
And then the guy next to you says, "Fuck yeah, it is!"
    It's like that. Sort of.

  9. Might be a good idea to bring an alternate pick in case someone beat you to the punch.
Also in case y'll forgot, I'm allergic to the Fleet Foxes. We are talking hives!

  10. I always have alternates. Always.
I was going to do a Fleet Foxes (and still could), but I am pretty sure they will not make the top 3. Possibly some one would like to give me an incentive not to choose them.

"That's a real nice playlist you got there. It would be a shame if something were to happen to it. Something with angelic vocal harmonies and beards, perhaps."

  11. Are the Fleet Foxes this years Decemberists or this years Sting?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Fleet Foxes were the Peter Bjorn & John of 2007...

  13. Fleet Foxes are this year's baby Ceti Eel & Marcy is this year's Pavel Checov.
Or at least that's how I always understood it.

  19. So I am listening to a shuffle of Music Club songs at work. The Peter Gabriel song comes on and I'm trying to figure out which one it is with out looking. Obviously one of the newer ones. Slow. Grandiose.
Wait- who chose a Peter Gabriel song. And how come it isn't Shock The Monkey.
Turns out Elbow totally fooled me. I thought they sounded like U2. Is that not true?

  20. Elbow does sound like U2 and they do a bang up cover of U2's "Running to stand still".
