Tastemakers At Work
Oh yes, three thumbs up to Bloodbuzz Ohio. Giving the album a listen for the first time.
That's why my tickets are bought. The NationalSat, Sep 11, 2010 07:00 PMMarymoor Park
I wanted to. I tried. I will try harder, but right now, right here, I don't like the National. I listened to The Boxer the other day and, well, meh.Something is wrong with me, right?
Yes Jim, something is very wrong with you.The National is labeled by many of being a grower band so give it a few more plays. There are definitely no horn intros.
Yes, well, everyone knows the showers (read "Show-ers", or "the ones who show", not showers as in "Hit the showers, Ladies") are always initially more impressive, while the growers are mocked and snickered at, only to bring it all home when it really counts. Never let it be said that I would reject a grower with or without horns simply because I wouldn't give them the time they needed to pleasantly surprise me, so I will accept this challenge, and indulge The National until every muscle in my body aches or until they have won me over. Whichever comes first. Or until I get sick of listening to a band I don't like. Hey, The National! Come and get me.
This interview is fantastic. Quincy is the man! https://www.gq.com/story/quincy-jones-has-a-story
