News Flash!

We decided at the Soundtrack meeting that we can have 4 songs on the deserted island.

  1. I don't know if that makes it easier or harder!

    And it's the 14th, right?

  2. One prediction and one warning, even though I haven't come up with any of my choices yet.

Prediction: Marcy will put none of my desert island songs on her ipod.

Warning: Songs that I potentially have to listen to exclusively for an extended period of time will likely not have lyrics nor are likely to be short. Sorry.

  3. You're allowed to not put selections on your ipod? I bought an ipod especially for Music Club.
I'd be interested in seeing the most deleted songs in our archive. Or will feelings be hurt?
For future reference, I can dish it out, but I can't take it.

  4. I keep everything. But I'm weird that way.

  5. In my defense, I have a 8gb ipod so I have to be a little ruthless with my selections.

  6. I don't think it's a secret that sometimes, SOMETIMES, I may take Music Club themes a little too seriously. I'm getting a little freaked out here. I feel like I am a few weeks away from being banished to a deserted island. I'm going to miss everyone so much. I don't WANT to take just 4 songs. That's not fair. I'm going to miss Carol a lot. I'm going to read up on how to make bourbon and see if i can distill it there. That should pass the time okay. I can't believe this will be our last Music Club before we all get shipped off. Goodbye you guys. I hope you like coconuts.

  7. Oh, Jim.

I was going to suggest that we also pick our book and luxury, but I'm afraid of sending you over the edge...

  8. It's alright. I'm better now.
I totally want a luxury and a book. Thanks for asking.

As I recall, the BBC DID says you have a victrola to play you discs. So I assume we will be making vinyl 45s of each song. I'm going to find a cave to keep mine in, so they don't warp. See, I'm adapting to my prospective surroundings already. I'm going to be fine, just fine.

    2. Finally had the chance to listen at full volume. I never thought I would enjoy Elmo, but I came just that much closer. Thanks a lot. I am forever changed.

Makes every activity from wild boar hunting to raft building to cursing my 4 song ipod just a little more fun.

  11. I totally use Yakety Sax in my Intro Psych classes, to illustrate "priming"! I play it behind a scene from "The Shining" ('Here's Johnny!'), to show how it totally changes the emotional reaction.

Occasionally, I get BIG grins from the little geek boys in the room, who clearly have done their English comedy homework! That pleases me.

    1. Is this a class one can audit?

    2. Yes! Come join us. We also diagnose characters from movies with personality disorders. It's probably unethical, but fun!

(I tried Yakety Sax under the shower scene in Psycho - it was disturbingly misogynistic. Which was fascinating.)
