Pick for the Overrated Artist/Band of the decade award
The first one that comes to mind is Animal Collective and I know I'd have Pat's backing which legitimizes it big time and yet the Fleet Foxes irritate me a little more but I probably shouldn't piss where I eat or whatever.
Thought about it. Very seriously. No I didn't. Vampire Weekend.
I like the Fleet Foxes CD. Saw them on SNL. I yawned a lot. I do not get Animal Collective at all. I was led to believe there was something wrong with me. I fell better now. VAMPIRE WEEKEND.
After posting that previous comment I got in the car to go to the store and what should be playing but The Wanting Comes in Waves. Go figure.
Jim, I do like that song far better than many many others of theirs.
So, not to change the subject too much, but I've been able to find 35 of the top 40 songs on lala and am putting them into a playlist (actually there is 36 because I have one honorable mention that just missed but I want on the playlist because, well, because).
So of the 5 songs I can't find on lala, I've managed to find links/youtube videos for four of them.
Once I figure out what to do with that last song (#10 for the record), we'll be good to go.
I wonder if I can use my mp3 file to stream from the website I get with my comcast account?
Wow, were you really posting a comment at 7:31 on Thanksgiving morning? Up early with the turkey and took a little time out to dis Bjork. I'm with you, Sister. Although I do like some of Matthew Barney's work, Bjork kind of bores me. I liked the Sugarcubes. At least that one song. No wait, two songs.
I want to see the top 40 of the past decade. The wanting comes in waves. That is what I am thankful for. Amen
Vampi... Um, I'll have to think about it.

VAMPIRE WEEKEND.
You'll get no argument from me about Animal Collective.
ReplyDeleteBut my first thought was The Decemberists.
Yes.
ReplyDeleteDecemberists.
One good song.
I hate them. Don't you guys? Me, too.
I'm with you guys on Animal Collective, and also thought I was just lame - they're always yammering about them on WRXP, my local station. Whew.

Bjork. Needs no explanation.

Did you say overrated artist in a band? Just in case...mike mccready.
ReplyDelete80's = The Firm
90's = Spin Doctors
00's = Interpol (Coldplay was too easy)
I am picking on Interpol because theoretically I should like them. Clearly I don't.
First runner up is Built To Spill. boring...they are hookless.
