1) Go see The Maldives live if you get the chance. They rock.
DO NOT buy their CD. OMG...BORING!
2) Go see The Moondoggies live. Do buy their CD. These guys are the next best thing since Scruffy the Cat.
3) Deb, you'll be diggin' that my Pandora radio station is named The Kings of Leon. Pat, how do I find your stations?
4) The music is more important than the lyrics. Although lyrics can kill a song, hard.
5) I'm not sure who my favorite guitar player of all time is, but my most hated is Mike McCready.
6) I'm pretty sure God invented the internet just I could tell the world about item 5.

Justin Townes Earle, Steve Earle's son
Now that is an example of the music gene passing on. His voice breaks my heart alittle.

I don't even know what song this is
But the line "If the river was gin/If the river was whiskey/I'd fish seven days a week" has some special meaning today...
Hey Kids!
Yup, I'm a bit late to the blog contributions, but my first will be waxing poetic about Kings Of Leon, I love, love, love them and have yet to tire of them and posing a question...
"waging wars to shake the poet and the beat I hope it's going to make you notice someone like me"
So, lyric or melody which has the greatest shelf life when it comes to what makes a song a lasting favorite?

Point of Order
I've always wondered this: Does a "favorite song of year XXXX" have to have been released in that year, or is it the year you were first exposed to it?
The music snob in me says "Dude, if you didn't hear it when it came out you are so loserrrrrr." The pragmatist in me replies "Shut up, poser."
So.....the question has been posed. What say you?
