Background on my "E" pick

“E Preciso Perdoar” (translated “One Must Forgive")

Performed by Cesária Évora, Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso and Ryuichi Sakamoto

Cesária Évora (Cape Verdean popular singer. Nicknamed the "Barefoot Diva" for performing without shoes, she was also the "Queen of Morna")

Caetano Emanuel Viana Teles Veloso, better known as Caetano Veloso, is a Brazilian composer, singer, guitarist, writer, and political activist. Veloso first became known for his participation in the Brazilian musical movement Tropicalismo which encompassed theatre, poetry and music in the 1960s, at the beginning of the Brazilian military dictatorship. He has remained a constant creative influence and best-selling performing artist and composer ever since.

Ryuichi Sakamoto is a Japanese musician, composer, record producer, writer, singer, pianist, and actor, based in Tokyo and New York. He began his career in 1978 as a member of the pioneering electronic music band Yellow Magic Orchestra where he played the keyboards and occasionally sang the vocals.

I hope the Russians love their children too. Ugh.

Frankly, the Sting picture makes me want to just quit this whole club.

Instead, I am officially announcing a New Project:

A Music Clubber Looks At 50

or

Pat's Top Fifty Ever

or

I Am So Stupid For Trying This.

Coming sometime this spring. Assume later rather than sooner.

a THEme within

As luck would have it I have a lot of choices for "The" bands. But I keep thinking it would be great have a band called the The Oasises or The Isaac Hayes or The U2s or The Soundgardens.

Read and Discuss? What is the New 'Adult Contemporary'?

http://www.avclub.com/articles/what-makes-music-boring,65075/

I was listening to the Slate Culture Gabfest, and they were discussing this article, specifically:

The fine music critic Nitsuh Abebe of New York Magazine learned this the hard way when he recently wrote a piece arguing that Wilco and Feist have become modern equivalents of Sting and his “adult-contemporary” peers. Abebe’s essay drew a lot of criticism from those who interpreted “adult-contemporary” and the Sting comparison as cheap shots. “Adult-contemporary,” after all, is really just another way of saying “boring.” It is a descriptor that is now a criticism, just as Sting has gone from being the frontman of The Police to a go-to signifier of “meh.”
